MIGRATION GUIDE • 2026
How to Switch from Zapier to Make
Make's visual workflow builder is more powerful than Zapier for complex automations. Multi-step Zaps that cost 3–5 tasks each in Zapier cost 1 operation per module in Make, making it 3–5× cheaper for the same workflow.
💰 What you'll save
A Zapier Starter plan at $19.99/mo (750 tasks) vs Make Core at $10.59/mo (10,000 operations) — you get 13× more capacity for half the price. For high-volume automations, savings scale significantly.
Step-by-Step Migration
1
Audit your active Zaps
In Zapier, go to My Zaps and note every active automation: trigger app, trigger event, actions, filters and number of tasks/month.
2
Identify your highest-volume Zaps
Sort by task usage. These are the ones where switching to Make saves the most — Make charges per operation, not per task, making complex multi-step automations much cheaper.
3
Create your Make account
Sign up at make.com. The free plan includes 1,000 operations/month. One Zapier 'task' roughly equals one Make 'operation'.
4
Rebuild your most-used Zaps in Make first
In Make: Create Scenario. Make's visual canvas shows the full flow — modules connect left to right. Recreate trigger → action chains using Make's 1,500+ app integrations.
5
Test each scenario thoroughly
Make has a built-in test mode. Run the scenario manually with real data before activating. Check every output matches what your Zapier workflow produced.
6
Deactivate Zapier Zaps one by one
As each Make scenario is verified, deactivate the corresponding Zap. Don't delete yet — keep as reference for 2 weeks.
7
Monitor Make runs for 2 weeks
Make's execution history shows every run with full input/output logs. Much more detailed than Zapier's task history.
8
Downgrade or cancel Zapier
Once all scenarios are live in Make, downgrade Zapier to free or cancel. Export your Zap history first for records.
Ready to make the switch?
Make offers a free plan / trial so you can test everything before cancelling Zapier.
